OVERVIEW

What is an electric car? Electric cars are simply cars that use a battery pack to power the drivetrain rather than a typical combustion engine. All electric motors these days use lithium-ion batteries. Unlike combustion engines electric cars do not produce any CO2 emissions as there is no fuel burned during the driving process. Electric cars are just plugged into power outlets instead of being fueled by an outside source. Consequently, electric cars are a greener alternative to your daily transportation ("Alternative Fuels Data Center"). There are also many benefits to an electric vehicle's drivetrain compared to a traditional one. Electric cars are often much simpler and require much fewer components leaving less room for error and mishaps when the vehicle is in motion. Moreover, many electric cars provide easier interactions for the operators of the vehicles. These are just a few of the reasons why so many are beginning the switch from combustion to electric.

Recently more and more people have increased their awareness of the environmental issues at hand when dealing with transportation and emissions. This then increases the demand for things such as electric vehicles and as the demand continues to increase so does the competition in the electric car market. More and more vehicle manufacturers are beginning the creation and marketing of various models of fully electric and hybrid vehicles to broaden their target audience when marketing their cars, ultimately helping the company in all aspects ("7 Electric Car Companies").
